The Least Romantic Explanation of Love Ever

In what is probably the least romantic thing you’ll hear this Valentine’s week, Brain Games host Jason Silva boils attraction down to an algorithmic explanation devoid of any matters of the heart… because it’s really all about the brain.

Jason likens us humans to nothing but a piece of software running a program that says, “Mate with this. Mate with that.” We’re just wired to mate. But what about passion and romance, Jason? Nope, that’s just dopamine and oxytocin… chemicals. So much for the warm and fuzzies!

What we’re attracted to is written in our DNA. Well, that seems sort of romantic… at least in a scientific, nerdy way.

But Jason does offer us one consolation, “Believe the dream while you’re in it.” And we shall! Celebrate this Valentine’s Day with some nerdy Brain Games cards. More to come!

Tune in to a special episode of Brain Games: The Laws of Attraction tonight at 9:30 p.m.
