Burmese pythons hail from the tropical climate of Southeast Asia, yet over the past two decades they’ve established an invasive population, estimated in the thousands, in the Florida Everglades. Now, a cold front has hit the state, and frigid temperatures are threatening the species. The guys head out in the cold, treading through remote tree islands and limestone caves, braving alligators and venomous snakes to catch pythons and determine how the inclement weather has affected the population. They’ll find several that are dead and several that are very much alive.
Python Hunters: The Big Freeze airs on Nat Geo Wild Monday July 19 at 10P et/pt.
Video Preview: The tables are turned in the Everglades, as the python hunters come across a snake that has been bitten nearly to death.
