Shock-Collar Commercial: Funny or Flop?


Whether you’re a football fan or not, many people watched the Super Bowl for the commercials.

Dog lovers around the world may have noticed one particular controversial Doritos commercial. Created by aspiring filmmakers for just about $200, this “Underdog” advertising bit received high marks from many television viewers. Frito Lay recently awarded the commercial creators with $600,000 for their creativity in marketing their product.

In this pooch-centered commercial, a man sits on a park bench munching on Doritos chips when a lab wearing a shock collar approaches. The man doesn’t want to share his snack and teases the Doritos-loving dog. But the table turns when the pooch cleverly removes his bark collar, sneaks up behind the bench, and clips it securely around the man’s neck. The dog then barks freely and enjoys the chips.
