Today, 1500 people will die from cancer. They are our brothers, our sisters, our fathers and mothers, our husbands and wives, our best friends, our children, ourselves. It’s a topic that’s difficult to talk about, and even harder to face; but it’s something that’s closer to all of us than we could have ever imagined. In fact, 1 in 2 men and 1 in 3 women will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetimes.
Stand Up To Cancer is working to change those odds with the biggest television movement of the year. SU2C is a groundbreaking initiative created to accelerate innovative cancer research that will get new therapies to patients quickly and save lives now.
Tonight, September 5th, Stand Up To Cancer will stage its fourth biennial fundraising event. Robert Downey Jr., Steve Carell, Sofia Vergara, Kevin Bacon, Anna Kendrick, Dave Grohl, Giada De Laurentiis, and many more celebrity staffers will be part of the star-studded Digital Lounge on set to help build public support for SU2C’s pioneering mission that focuses on innovation and collaboration. They join previously announced participants such as Gwyneth Paltrow, Katie Couric, Reese Witherspoon, Pierce Brosnan, Jennifer Aniston, Halle Berry, Jon Hamm, Kiefer Sutherland, Ben Stiller, Will Ferrell. Special musical performances include: The Who, Jennifer Hudson, Lupe Fiasco & Common, Ariana Grande, and Dave Matthews Band.
