For Marciano, It’s Bluefin or Bust

It’s early in the Outer Banks Bluefin tuna season, but it’s already obvious that even an experienced fisherman might not have what it takes to survive in this hyper-competitive fishery. The animosity between southern and northern boats reaches a fever pitch, while the longstanding rivalry between two southern boats raises the stakes for the whole fleet.

Without a single fish under his belt, Captain Dave Marciano, of the Hard Merchandise, is at a crossroads. He’s made a massive financial gamble traveling 600 miles south to the Outer Banks, and if he doesn’t catch in the next two days, he can’t afford to stay in the Carolinas and must head back to Gloucester. With time running out, he enlists the aid of his fellow northerner, Captain TJ Ott of the Hot Tuna, to learn the greenstick and hopefully land a catch.

While Dave is grateful for the help rigging his greenstick, not everyone thinks TJ can be trusted. When Tyler throws suspicion on TJ’s motivations, old tensions resurface and TJ vows to get even with his former protege.

Meanwhile, Captain Reed Meredith, of the Wahoo, came into the season determined to out-fish fellow local skipper and longtime rival Captain Greg Mayer, of the Fishin’ Frenzy, but Reed’s already falling behind. With Frenzy currently leading the fleet, Reed is desperate to catch a monster and knock the Frenzy from their perch atop the leaderboard.

With the quota rapidly starting to fill, time is of the essence for all the fleet. But for Marciano, his livelihood, finances and self-esteem are all on the line. He has never been put to such a test before. Will he be able to overcome all the obstacles and make a season-altering catch?

Tune in to Wicked Tuna North vs. South: Bluefin or Bust Sunday at 10P to find out!

You show sharks and tuna being caught, but I haven’t see any tuna being attacked by sharks after hook-up. Don’t they lose some fish to sharks? Would be interesting to see what’s left after a shark takes a bite.

Paul appears to be one of the nicesest people in the world. Paul is an excellent Captain and a great Fish Mate. I hope that he gets his own boat soon and takes Sandro on as his Fish Mate. Sandro is a great fisherman who does not get the credit he’s earned. Paul and Sandro make a great team. I look forward to more of the show.

Do these guys run charters when not on the air? I sure hope they don’t depend on this show as an advertising vehicle. They seem like a bunch of amateurs. Why would you go to a new area and not be totally comfortable with all the methods.
