The ’90s may feel like just yesterday, but NEWS FLASH, 1990 was 24 years ago! Feel old? Don’t worry, if the ’90s still feel fresh in your memory–there’s good news for you: you have even better chances at winning phat prizes! Head over to rulethe90s.com to try your hand at our ’90s trivia machine. Top the leaderboard, and our special ’90s prize packs will be all yours!

So what’s up for grabs, you ask?

Well, besides vintage, mint condition, in-box, original Furbies, Super Soakers, and Bop Its… each retro prize pack comes with an astonishing amount of unbelievably awesome ’90s swag like DVD packs of the best movies of the decade, koosh balls, and beanie babies.

But the ultimate, grand prize–reserved only for the crowned ruler of the ’90s–will receive a completely refurbished Mortal Kombat arcade, straight out of 1992! See it in action:

This fully restored game features original art work, LED marquee lighting, a professionally overhauled logic unit and power supply, as well as new buttons and joysticks, a functional coin door, and a completely rebuilt monitor–brought to you from A.C. Games. We spoke with All Castle Games President, Sean McDermott to hear what the restoration process was like, and what makes Mortal Kombat so special. “In selecting games to buy, we consider rarity and popularity. The original Mortal Kombat came out in ’92, and this dedicated upright came directly from the factory in Middway,” Sean revealed. “But when Mortal Kombat II was released shortly thereafter, many of the originals were quickly converted to Mortal Kombat IIs. So you really don’t see the first editions as much,” Sean continued.

Mortal Kombat is an iconic game that spurred the conversation and need for a ratings system due to it’s (at-the-time) groundbreaking realistic effects. In fact, the characters in Mortal Kombat were actually filmed with real actors, which were then later digitized to become the folks we know in the game. And this particular unit that’s up for grabs comes refurbished from someone who has been in the gaming business for quite some time.

Sean McDermott has been in the arcade industry for over a decade, getting his start as an attendant handing out coins, cleaning up glass, and giving out prizes. But his passion for the industry and exposure to some of the great original operators (when the gaming industry was in its infancy) provided the mentorship that gave him the skills to advance his career to become technically skilled enough to take on complete game overhauls and refurbishments such as this.

Now, are you ready to FINISH HIM? (The ’90s trivia machine, that is.) It’s time to show us what you’re made of. Head over to rulethe90s.com to take the challenge. Go ahead and tackle challenge #1 now… but if you’re serious about topping the leaderboard, you’ll want to come back this Sunday, July 6th at 9P to unlock challenge #2 (double points for playing live during the first episode of The ’90s: The Last Great Decade from 9-11P!)

That is horse shit that ur 90’s contest only applies to Americans. Up here in Canada I also PAY to watch ur programs but yet ur contest don’t apply. I am guessing that we are just too smart for ur contest. Typical bullshit.

I’m really sorry for you Trent, I would tell you to pack it up and move to America it is a bit warmer down yonder in the Americas…But at least there you can get good health coverage without having to worry about a republican party steal it from you…Maybe you can host a contest there in Canada like who has the most moose heads adorning their walls of their living room type contest.
