It’s a new morning at the Castle, but it’s the same old thing to eat- MRE’s (meals ready to eat: think, “just add water”). With only MRE’s on hand, Brent Sr. challenges his kids to start looking for other food alternatives.
Watch: Brent Sr. introduces his family to “Meals Ready to Eat,” which prompts Brent II to start learning how to hunt.
With new-found inspiration, the kids set out to find fresh, renewable food sources. So the children set out to find just that. What will they take on?
Chickens are a great renewable resource, providing eggs almost daily. The two girls head to a local chicken farm and attempt to catch their own chickens, which turns out to be a little more challenging than you might think.
The boys decide hunting is the best option for finding food alternatives. Michael teaches Brent II how to use a crossbow, but Brent II has another idea for capturing a wild boar, who overrun the area they live in. They dig a trap, and wait for the alarm to sound.
Meanwhile, back at the castle, Brent Sr. and Dawn-Marie work on a catapult as another fortification to the castle. There’s no manual for building a modern-day catapult, or at least no manual that Brent Sr. is willing to follow, so the pair is winging it. Challenges crop up along the way, and finding the perfect counterweight proves to be the biggest obstacle. Watch: Building a Catapult >>
To find out if they’ll feast on fresh meat and eggs or be stuck with yet another MRE, be sure to tune in to Doomsday Castle: A Stone From the Sling tonight at 10P.
