Testing out some more viewer information, rather than being so focused on our own channels, looking at the top 3 telecasts across the day from a few of the non-fiction networks out there: National Geographic Channel, History Channel, Discovery Channel, Nat Geo Wild, Animal Planet and Science. Gives me more to talk about at research conventions with my friends at these other networks, or they’ll ask me to stop talking about them. So below are the top 3 telecasts (any individual program) for the week of 9/17/2012 from the week on each network.
Nothing surprising in this week, since the broadcast networks are getting most of the attention as they roll out new programming. NGC led with one of its strongest shows, Taboo’s premiere of Extreme Bodies leading the week (including its repeat right after. Wild’s #1 show Dr. Pol continues to break records for the young network – with Dog Whisperer rounding out the top.
Over on Discovery, they saw some of the most variety in their top shows, if American Chopper and Fast N Loud can be considered different – cars vs. motorcycles. Yukon Men rounds out their top 3, which is definitely different. Sister network Animal Planet saw Tanked make up 2 of its top 3 – including Tanked: Unfiltered, which sounds a little gross, in my opinion. Brother network Science was all about Survivorman – all 3 of its top broadcasts were the escapades of Les Stroud. Unrelated network History Channel was taking a page from Fast N Loud with Counting Cars, which is more interesting that its title leads us to believe. Add to that the always entertaining American Restoration and you have the top 3 for History Channel.
