23 year-old Iraqi soldier Latif Yahia is fighting in the Iran-Iraq War when he was summoned to the Republican Palace. There, Saddam Hussein’s eldest son Uday demands that Latif becomes his body double. Latif is a near-exact physical match for the evil son, virtually his twin.  He doesn’t want the role, but Uday has him thrown in prison until Latif accepts he has no choice but to do as he is commanded.  He severs all ties with family, friends, and his previous identity and is trained to walk, talk, and behave exactly like his new master. While the position has it’s perks, Latif has to witness the manic son’s evil behavior – rape, murder, torture – on a daily basis. Although Latif narrowly survives several assassination attempts, it is only a matter of time before the devil turns on his brother, and Latif has to choose between death or escape…

I have seen the movie and now the tv show, I find this so facinating and I truly believe this man, how sad we live in a world so evil and people still cannot accept the truth, thank god for men like Mr.Yahia.

This by far was one of the best episodes that I have seen. I was like watching a mini-movie. My heart went out to Latif and what he went through. It was so sad to see how he was tortured. In the end, he re-gained his freedom with a heavy price… the death of his father. Iam happy that everything has worked out for Latif and his family…may blessings stay upon you…

My heart & prayers goes out to you Latif !! I felt for you, not like some of the morons on this show that are trying to smuggle drugs, you were forced into doing something and stood strong!!

this episode of locked up abroad should be nominated for an oscar…no, seriously….
@BDavis: i was thinking exactly the same. when i saw them agree to smuggle drugs and getting themselves locked up, i just thought, serves them right. i mean, how can someone be so stupid.
but not when i watched son of saddam. it sent a chill down my back, i really couldnt believe how someone could be so cruel. it was like feeling latifs pain, i was so shocked of what latif (and many others) had to go through, it brought tears to my eyes. but still…you stood your ground latif. you have a strong heart, you didn’t give up, even when you were an inch from death……i wish you all the best in the world.
