“The Believer”

If “The X-Files” fictional character Fox Mulder were real, he’d undoubtedly be documentarian James Fox.

For nearly 20 years, Fox traveled across the world in pursuit of the truth regarding UFOs. He directed and produced three films on the subject and in 2007 orchestrated an event, with help from journalist Leslie Kean (Coalition for Freedom of Information), which to this day is hailed as the most credible civilian effort of disclosure on UFOs in history. Fox assembled 14 speakers, including two retired generals and several other military officers, a former governor, civilian pilots and government scientists from seven countries (Belgium, Chile, France, Iran, Peru, U.K. and the U.S.) at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., to give firsthand testimonies on their encounters/investigations with UFOs.  He is convinced not only that UFOs are real, but that governments have concealed information on this subject from the public  for more than 60 years.

In his study, Fox proudly displays a framed letter from Steven Spielberg, who called his last film “compelling,” and states, “I hope the government will someday reveal the true and natural origins of UFOs.”

For the first time ever, Fox takes his personal experiences, contacts and expertise on the road with National Geographic Channel’s new series, Chasing UFOs. His nonthreatening conversational style of interviewing, open mind and unbiased reputation have given him unfettered access to witnesses, government documents and cases from around the world. If Fox doesn’t know a case, he’s friends with someone who does. Like Mulder, James Fox firmly believes the truth is out there, and it’s a personal journey for him to share the facts with the world.

    Chasing UFOs is the lamest waste of time I have (almost) ever seen and should be an embarrassment to National Geographic. If The Blair Witch Project was your model, you are years behind the times. It stretches credulity to the breaking point. Come on, a piece of tin can is evidence of a UFO crash?
    I know reality TV type programs are cheaper to produce but they really cheapen Nat Geo’s image as well. Viewer no more.

    We live in fascinating times. UFO sightings have been increasing in number. I personally believe that the appearance of so many UFOs (with more to come) is intentional. It is done to let us know that we really are not alone. The space people are here to help us and to herald the presence of the spiritual teacher Maitreya who is also known as the World Teacher.

    Watched your show, am liking it so far. Keep up the hunt.
    Several years ago my sister and myself saw something, triangle,three lights,about seventy feet above my house. It took forty-five minutes to pass overhead. There was no noise. We have discussed this on many different occasions and have as of yet not decided what it was. Truly a UFO, but from where? USA or what?

    I was so excited to watch this new series. I DVR’d the first two episodes. I just watched the first one…and erased it. I will ERASE the second one, without watching it. This show SUCKS! NatGeo should be ashamed to air this garbage. Nothing new here and the “investigators” are awful. They capture a UFO on video on their first try???? COME ON!
    NatGeo, you are better than this. Your reputation is in question with this piece of crap show. You give Ufology a blackeye with this junk!
    I won’t be tuning in again for this “documentary show”.

    This show was terrible. It needs to go back to the drawing board in a huge way. It’s obvious that these cast members aren’t sincere in their “scientific” approach to the subject of UFOs. Or, they simply aren’t very good at faking it. Some tips: Please have the cast members stop swearing and blaspheming. I teach high school and I hear enough of it in the casual conversations of the students in the hallways. Furthermore, it leads me to believe that the cast members have very limited vocabularies. I’d also recommend bringing in some genuine UFO researchers. It’s something that will give the show some integrity. Last thing, stop with the cliffhanger moments. It’s like watching Storage Wars. Please revamp the show and try again later. Thanks.

    James! You are a much more serious UFO researcher than this show seems to be! Why all the running around? Why show the repelling scene? WHY were you searching for ARTIFACTS AT NIGHT??? Duh, right?? Where are the video experts? (That guy who saw a UFO from his home clearly faked that – it would’ve been easy to prove!) Where are the radar returns from the Texas sightings? Tell Ryder this is NOT Destination Truth. Get some real UFO experts like the people included in the “Disclosure” press conference. And please stop using those hip cameras. Show, tell and investigate compelling sightings with multiple witnesses!! Stop running through the woods.

    A couple of things:
    A. Get rid of that stupid camera that points at your faces while you fumble in the dark! It’s about the UFO’s not your emotional state!

    B. Leslie Kean looks so much like Steven Tyler of Aerosmith fame that it’s actually disturbing! Fix that and there’s a change you’ll have a show!

    People want science, not idiocracy! This isn’t the fictional futuristic television show “Oww my Balls!” Get it together and bring on the facts! We’d love to see them, this isn’t Ghost Travels! Thanks- Rich

    why is it that everyone runs away from these so called men in black or white cars etc??? Take the camera and have a live feed to a central location to cover your asses then go up put the cameras on them and confront them. Take video of their faces find out who they are who they work for. Stalk the hunter. Maybe instead of running scared and being afraid of them you might have some sort of answers.

    if you use a tube-type short wave radio with a 10 meter linier antenna, @ 4.2 mghrz low scale, you can find ufo rf signals on the coast of washington state and draw them in. had experiance with that unwhittingly. Used a Navy short wave radio from 1952.

    Well to start it off., i have seen a ‘ufo’, ‘flying saucer’, ‘craft’ etc., i seen it one late night, i was sitting on top of a mexican that is posted right next to where i live. & i was not alone, i was with my friend and we were laying down on the top of the building and we were just looking at the stars. All of a sudden I seen a circle in the sky with 3 lights on the bottom (white) and i it traveled a lil ways then disappeared. BUT we saw it again! same one, but it went the other way & it lasted the same amout of time as the first time. and when we saw it for the second time it was maybe 2 seconds after seeing it the first time. IT WAS SOO OUR OF THIS WORLD!! i yelled to him ‘did you see that!?’ ‘i think i just saw a f*cking UFO!’ all he said was that he saw it. i dont know how he feels about seeing it, everytime i ask him he doesnt say much about it.
    You guys need to check out MINNESOTA!!! for realz. For all you scientist out der, dont worry about the earth, water, rocks., etc. who cares. WATCH THE STARS!!!!!!

    I was really looking forward to this show, however I must agree with most of the above comments.
    I applaud the fact that the guys go out there and interview witnesses and review the footage, but then they spoil the show by running around like headless chickens with face cams and swear (big turn-off!!!).
    I feel sorry for people who tune in to learn more about the scientific approach of ufologists, but are bitterly disappointed dissing the great work the vast majority of ufologist do, as pseudo-science.
    However, I believe the show has potential – ditch the cams, stop swearing and get around the table with real experts to discuss your findings!

    At one point Ryder sums up the show entirely, as she abandons her investigation saying “There’s no point in taking any chances.”

    You idiots have the equipment, budget, AND JOBS to get out there and TAKE SOME CHANCES.

    I love the UFO subject, but this show is written by/for idiots. It is the BORAT of UFO shows.

    I’ve watched 4 episodes of this series and what a disappointment. I have scientific training and have had several sighting of objects in the sky that I can’t explain, and believe the whole UFO or UAP phenomenon deserves serious research. This TV “Drama”, “UFO Chasers” does nothing but portray people who investigate this subject as amateurs who chase about the country on pointless missions. It is long on drama and very short on substance. The amount of time wasted in face on interviews where nothing is established with facts. It’s all feelings and drama.
    Clearly this show is written for a short attention span and I will say it has no scientific merit about the subject of UFO whatsoever. And in my opinion, National Geographic (who I though had an inkling of intelligence) should be embarrassed at producing such Bilge.

    I agree with the consensus that this production is a complete farce. I pray hope that NatGeo is not going the way of History Channel that once aired quality and informative television shows, but instead decided to pander to the moronic masses with shameless reality shows.

    The title of the show is telling, because NatGeo must have known what kind of show they were about to produce when it was named “UFO Chasers”. How ridiculous is that? I don’t even want to get started with the number of issues there are with the name, let alone the show in itself.

    Having a very high regard for NatGeo products over many years, I think that your new series “UFO Chasers” is an insult to your viewers and a tragic waste everyone’s time. In my opinion, your once quality programming has morphed into nothing more than sleezy, fast buck hokum.

    As a fan of James Fox’s documentary and other work I must agree with the negative comments. The subject is great the theatrics are bush league, but hey that’s show bus. Time to get serious Mr. Fox. Like you said to Steven Spielberg, “There’s no time like the present”

    Really good show, I tune in for every showing.. Television has a real lack of any new UFO shows. Its basically like UFO hunters that was on History, which did very well.. don’t know why it was canceled.

    Wow, after reading others comments, I’m surprised. So negative about them going out at night looking around with the face cameras.. lol. The show is called UFO chasers.. and I would definitely hang around where a report was made and watch the sky. It’s part of investigating.. it would be boring if lets say they went to Rachael Nevada (area 51) to interview someone on what they saw, and then haul out of town before it got dark! Who wouldn’t hang around at night and check out the sky yourself.
    UFO Hunters on the History channel had good ratings, they also went out at night. And Bill was a UFO nut compared to the guy on UFO chasers.
    I’m sure this show is getting good ratings.. I bet most of everyone who watched UFO Hunters tunes in. I really hope for a second season, I don’t want the show to end.. nothing else is on television like this on UFO’s. All I see is reruns of old shows. And I also like how they show clips of UFO sightings from people.. although they could be a little longer. I think a program that shows only UFO videos from people would do pretty well too.

    The recent spur of UFO shows on television has been sparked by the major interest generated by the massive number of sightings witnessed in the last 30 or so years. A new generation of sky watchers and ufologist have given a new perspective on this ongoing phenomenon. UFO activity has been documented since the predawn of civilization, the only question is what is it. Why are we seeing strange things in the sky and why have these things been seen since before we ourselves took flight. These things cannot be explained by natural phenomenon, obviously they seem mechanical or seem to be controlled by some sort of intelligence.
    The new generation of sky watchers have technology that we previously have not had in the past. Obviously their approach on investigating this phenomenon is based on the idea that this is a television show. This is entertainment, and in order to investigate they must generate interest in the phenomenon. The hype generated by this reflects badly on the seriousness that many people feel about it based on their experiences and their eagerness to know the truth. However many of the investigators feel the same way, they simply cannot work without these kinds of media outlets. The equipment they use is necessary and cost money.
    The approach on UFO hunting is rather naive in perspective, and this is accepted and of course cannot be helped. The reason for this is that we are dealing with something greater than us. Military organizations in particular our own government can operate in secret with the latest technology most of which we cannot fathom the possibilities.
    In addition the hype generated has launched a series of hoaxes in which people use to get attention, people will do anything to see their face on television. Hoaxers have been caught and exposed many times in the past. In order to rule out the possibility of a hoax we have to investigate these cases as well. The better the hoax the more likely we are to realize when we are seeing one.
    People have to be objective on the subject of UFO investigation. There is much criticism as people are offended by the idea of people running around places they don’t know asking questions and poking around. I can see how someone in the military would be under the impression that these are simply works of the government and that such works are being done in favor of the protection of our country and to maintain this secrecy is of the utmost importance. However the duration and the documentation that takes this phenomenon back to times dating the predawn of civilization, and it is obvious that this is a little more than just the government, ours or any other, or anyone else testing experimental technology.
    In either perspective you have to accept that this is an adventure, and is right where it belongs. The race to find physical evidence of life on other planets is on and if you think that UFO hunting is the only pursuit of this race you are wrong. There are scientists now that believe that life on other planets is not only possible, but probable. These scientists are taking their own routes of discovery in this race.
    In the past this idea was frowned upon because of religious and conservative views. People did not want to believe in the idea of life on other planets because of the impact it would have on our beliefs. In a new generation we are becoming more open minded. If these shows don’t serve as a means of entertainment they certainly open the minds of people who would otherwise exclude the possibility, by showing us things we have never seen before. As our eagerness to find the truth grows people who witness these things and discover things that others have never seen will come forward.
    Perhaps there is an explanation for what we are seeing, but until you can provide some evidence or a logical explanation your just as much in the dark as the people who investigate it. No matter how you look at it, this phenomenon is present. Unless you can provide some proof of what it is, your under the same scrutiny and have no place putting your criticism above anyone else’s. So watch it or don’t, it’s here. If you don’t care what it is, we don’t care. We have a right to know, and we want to know what it is. Try and stop us from watching the sky.

    Can anyone tell these guys to turn off their flash-lights and other lights when they are approaching sensitive territory for an investigation? At night those lights give away their position for miles and ruins any investigation.!!!!!

    think the show is great,admire J.fox for the work he does,proffesional all the way,kinda wondering why your team doesnt investigate the 1953 western desert utah crash sight,that actual evidence lies under the sand there would be worthy of investigation,you could use MALÅ MIRA 3D GPR (ground penetrating radar) used at stone henge 2011 and is very advanced,also as the buildings around that area are so old looking but for some reason have high security locks on old old doors kinda seems odd,so yea go forth and try the utah sight,,,fantastic show from the beleiver to the scientific sceptic ,keep up the good work,

Making them whisper (if you speak normal will you scare them away?), looking for ufos in the woods and caves (make sure you don’t look up), looking for relics in the dark (why not in the daytime?).     I would like to know if the Chasing UFO group has noticed the identical comparison between the wooden carving made some time in 1800′s of cigar shaped craft ejecting and fighting round orbs in the sky. When the carving was done it was indicated some of the orbs actually fell to the sky and smoked. I do not recall as I post this all of the details, but I recall the woden carving made when the incident occured and 8/17th show and another show a few weeks prior about an event which took place, the father has since passed but daughter and grandparents were still alive, and they saw and taped a cigar shaped craft with the orbs coming out and also shooting at the cigar object. The video is an exact image of what was depicted in the carving done to document what all saw so long ago. I would truly like to see the Chasing UFO group to do a week’s show in this comparison and ask the world – how could this be faked when there was no way those people so long ago would know what would be seen in the skys these past few decades and the identical crafts viewed by both groups of people hundreds of years apart. I am sorry I did not do all the research to give all the names, locations and exact date. I believe it was Netherdlands, or in this region – but I am CERTAIN the wood carving done was to document an event witnessed in sky whre these craft fought each other. I belive Josh Gates from Destination Truth also did a show regarding this, or it could have been an Ancient Aliens show – but I specifically recall this carving being shown on to prove the long history of UFOs on earth.
    I hope this is looked into so the world can be provided with the truth.

    I also want to make known I live in Manchester close to the airport (and an Air Force Reserves Base) and I have seen a multitude of the bright white orbs which are much brighter than anything else in the sky. I have seen them go dark just as I notice aircraft coming in from other directions – only to brighten back up after the skys are clear again. I have contacted MUFON regarding this – but it is so common, it would waste so much of their time to cacll every time I see this. I have been starygazer for many years and I now different beween; air draft, satellites/space station as it passes over heard, stars, planets, planes, and then the other items I have witnessed.

    show is cheesy. however there is definitely something going on in the skies above. who knows what the source of the activity is, but thousands of people have witnessed these events, and like the Phoenix lights, we have all seen things on video that simply can’t be easily explained away. regardless, it is silly to run around with these face cams in the middle of night.

    interest and respect when dealing with this subject. Fear and ignorance dominate the response of shallow persons who cannot and will not see beyond the veil of secrecy that has intentionally blinded their understanding. Somehow this veil must be penetrated. You have shown great courage and insight. You are unafraid. No other respected station will go beyond the bounds of comfort to question what the accepted concepts of scientific reality truly are. Things are happening in the world and in the Universe that directly effect every living being. Things unseen and discreet. Someone needs to address this and open the eyes of the blinded. If for no other reason than to allow the young and learning to prepare for any event that will for certain change the course of social existence as we know it.

Forget Governements, they can’t ackknowledge this– the next steps are privately funded groups to establish direct dicussions with these ancient cultures, in order to improve our own.     I have all the respect for James Fox, having seen “I know what I saw”. It makes it that much harder to understand how he ended up in that disaster. I can only guess that the producers have misled the cast in order to get their endorsement.
    It is infuriating that such a serious and important topic is once more ridiculed and misrepresented. They (the producers) wanted cheap thrills in order to sell ads. They don’t give a f… about anything else, and I find it incomprehensible that National Geograhic would trash its own brand by endorsing that channel.

    I am a firm believer that we are not alone in the universe and that we may have had or still do have visitors or crash landings. However, this show is actually ruining my belief a bit ” people trying to make a quick buck”. The most recent episode I watched was with the Black Mountain and people following. Next time you show a vehicle through the infared, make sure it isn’t the same type of vehicle that you are driving around in every episode. As for all of the white vehicles, nice camera van. Come on producers, if someone was following a person who is a firm believer, they are not going to squak their tires to attract your attention. I’m sure they are smart enough that you’re dumb enough to not get scared of your strong beliefs and that you will continue your search no matter what. I’m also sure the military personal didn’t see all of the camera crew running around.

    The ufo phenomenon has for some time been a subject close to my heart and James Fox’s integrity and general demeanor has always been highly credible in a subject often open to ridicule. I now have to ask myself why oh why are you doing this ‘ufo chasers’ drivel? It is the most ridiculous attempt at covering the subject that I have ever seen. I know we all have to pay the bills but come on James,you really are damaging your reputation with this rubbish. I can see by the other comments that this is the opinion of many.

    Please spend more time investigating.
    Please tell the geologist to stop saying acting like child in front of the camera “I don’t believe, I want my mommy”.
    Leonard Nimoy’s shows were entertaining without being childish.
    The show has a lot of good content, but you need to look at the evidence more seriously for people to take you seriously.
    Keep the entertainment and fun but leave out the “I don’t believe” crap and just present the facts.

    I have seen alot of strange things in my life and definately think something is going on and we are not told. I especially wanted to speak about the video that Ryder shot on the show in texas that clearly showed a disk shaped craft possibly with some other craft , I was wondering if there has been any other analysis of the video, and what was the result. Its not everyday that something like that is shown on television and then just dropped never to be heard about again. I was wondering how you faked it. if it was real video you would have had more about it at some point.I have always thought that someday the truth would come out, but its as if the government, and the other agency that actually knows, and even most ufoligists are doing all they can to keep it quiet. I don’t really need proof that it exists cause i have seen it with my own eyes, when stationed at Bangor submarine base. My concern is why no one is the least bit worried about it. the media makes a joke about it, the government denys its existance or just says there is no threat , makes me wonder if we are even in control of this world anymore. If they have been coming around for as long as some researchers say then we could have been invaded long ago and not even know it.I did think that James Fox was serious about this subject, It just seems that everyone thinks its a joke and will not no matter what kind of evidence is presented just shrugs it off. Anyway I was just wondering about the video that was shot by Ryder on the show when she seemed really amazed at what she saw. Was it faked video to boost ratings, or was it real and you just don’t want to make any other reports about it?

    Hi, I just want you guys to know your show is the greatest and the topic…epic!! I am a firm believer of life out there!! I have seen something along with probably 12 of my family members. We watched this craft for longer than 15 minutes…going back to 1992. It was daytime, late afternoon and it stopped right above us! I’m not kidding and I’m not a crazy!! I have started to think a lot about it lately after another incident. This craft made no sound as all the claims I have seen in your show, which just blows me away completely…I am certain of my experiences and just want you guys to know I think you are all awesome!! It moved from a distance toward where we were, complete silence, no noise what so ever, stopped above us hovering for a short while then moved slowly back to the other end where it had come from in a triangular shape. When it reached the distance from where it come from it darted diagonally off and disappeared. I am looking at the moment of being regressed back to that moment via hypnotism so I can relive the moment to see the craft again. I remember it being grey in colour, metallic maybe, two or three lights, no colour I can remember and it was still daylight so the view was unhindered. When I say it was just above us!! I mean just above us!! Just above but close to the roof of our home…I know it sounds bloody ridiculous to a lot of ppl, and if I were a complete skeptic and someone had told me this….I would be thinking to myself are you mentally ill or having too many drugs?? But this did happen and it happened with a large group of my family members there and observing this also!! Can you skeptics explain that?? Do you have a logical explanation for all of these ppl in daylight seeing a craft just above us after watching it from a distance moving slowly toward us with no sound at all?? I strongly doubt it as the only explanation is, there is a life out there!! And if one was to believe differently, you would be one very, VERY, naive person!! Thanks for your belief guys and keep up the good work!! It’s priceless and one day we will all know the truth!! <3 angi

    HELLO ANGI,i’m from perth also.Are you saying you saw a ufo not long ago,BECAUSE i brought them down to the town in perth.You people need to gather i”M NOY JOKEING i speek with them and they come down to me and no longer than 5 months ago area 51 tryed to obduct me from australia.I HAVE a promisfor you all and i will hold to it.THIS IS NO CON…i willbriung them down to perth australia in the city on the 30th of the 4th 2013.They will be ableto be seen from inside town and i’ll get them to shine there lights on me and others in town from the SKY this i can promis you..SPREAD THE WORD
